Erik ten Hag dismisses reports of Man Utd squad clear-out; remains coy on Jadon Sancho’s future

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has dismissed reports claiming that most of his squad is up for sale this summer as a “joke” and “untrue”. The Dutchman insisted that there is a solid base within his squad and that improvements need to be made this summer, but the rumors of a mass clear-out are completely false.

Speaking ahead of United’s game against Crystal Palace, Ten Hag expressed his frustration with the rumors, stating, “It’s a joke! As long as I worked here, every summer, 200 players are getting an interest from Manchester United, which is untrue. We did some research. Every summer, we sell every player in our squad. Which is untrue. Be calm and take responsibility when you take such a headline. It is totally c**p.”

Regarding the future of Jadon Sancho, who has been on loan at Borussia Dortmund, Ten Hag praised the winger’s recent performances but remained coy about his return to United. Sancho impressed in Dortmund’s Champions League semi-final win against PSG, prompting speculation about his future at the club.

Despite United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League next season, Ten Hag believes the club still holds a strong appeal for potential transfer targets. He acknowledged that missing out on Champions League football will impact the budget but remains confident that many players will still be eager to play for Manchester United.

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville supported Ten Hag’s response, calling the reports of a squad overhaul “impossible” and emphasizing the need for stability and development within the team. As United look ahead to the summer transfer window, the focus will be on making strategic signings to support the existing squad and continue progressing towards their goals.
