Jurgen Klopp praises potential successor Arne Slot’s style of play and personality
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has given his seal of approval to potential successor Arne Slot, praising the Feyenoord manager’s style of play and personality. The Reds are reportedly close to finalizing a deal with the Dutch club for Slot to take over from Klopp at the end of the season.
Klopp expressed his admiration for Slot, stating, “I like the way his team play football, all the things I hear about him as a guy say he’s a good guy. I like that a lot – good guy, good coach and looking forward for the club if he is the solution. I’m more than happy, it sounds all really good.”
Slot, 45, led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title in the 2022-23 season and has continued to impress this season by winning the Dutch Cup and securing a second-place finish in the league. His attacking style of play and ability to develop players are believed to be key factors in Liverpool’s interest in him.
Despite the impending departure of Klopp, the German coach remains focused on the current season and the title race. Liverpool suffered a setback with a second defeat in three games, leaving them three points behind league leaders Arsenal and two points behind second-placed Manchester City.
Klopp acknowledged the challenge ahead for his team, stating, “I cannot sit here and say they still feel us around. I’m pretty sure Arsenal and City see it as a two-horse race. They might have to say something else publicly, but they don’t expect for themselves to lose two games from now on, I don’t think so.”
Liverpool face West Ham next in a crucial fixture as they look to bounce back and keep their title hopes alive. Klopp emphasized the importance of winning their remaining games to stay in contention, highlighting the need for a realistic approach in the title race.
