Manchester United Squad Up for Sale to Refresh Team and Generate Funds
Manchester United are shaking things up as they prepare for a major squad overhaul under new co-owner Ineos. With a disappointing season under their belts, the Red Devils are looking to refresh the team and generate funds by putting almost all of their players up for sale.
Having spent a whopping £1bn on assembling their current squad over the past few years, United find themselves in a tricky financial situation, especially after missing out on Champions League football next season. In order to bolster their squad, they will need to maximize player sales, something they have struggled with in the past according to BBC Sport’s chief football news writer Simon Stone.
The value of United’s squad is a hot topic of discussion, with different sources providing varying estimates. Transfermarkt’s ‘market valuation’ paints a modest picture, highlighting the fluctuating values of key players like Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes, and others.
Rashford, once valued at £73m, has seen his market value drop to £51m due to inconsistent performances. Antony, signed for a hefty fee of 95m euros, has seen his value plummet to £24m following underwhelming displays. Sancho, a former high-value player, has seen his worth decrease to £21m after struggling for game time at United.
As United look to offload players and revamp their squad, the future remains uncertain for many of their stars. With potential bidders eyeing up opportunities and market values in flux, the summer transfer window promises to be an intriguing time for Manchester United and their fans.
