Investec Champions Cup: Harlequins v Glasgow Warriors Preview
Glasgow Warriors’ Sione Tuipulotu is set to make his first appearance since January as they take on Harlequins in the Investec Champions Cup last-16 tie at Twickenham Stoop on Friday.
Tuipulotu, who has been out with a knee injury, will join a Glasgow side that features 11 Scotland internationals in the starting lineup. The winners of this match will face either Bordeaux Begles or Saracens in the quarter-finals.
Harlequins, on the other hand, have made two changes to their lineup, with Will Collier returning at tight-head prop and Irne Herbst starting in the second row. England’s Marcus Smith will guide the attack from fly-half alongside Danny Care.
Head coach Danny Wilson, who joined Harlequins after leaving Glasgow in 2022, is looking to make the most of home advantage. He emphasized the challenge of facing a strong Glasgow side, saying, “They are extremely dangerous and we will have to be right on top of our game to give ourselves an opportunity.”
Meanwhile, Glasgow’s coach Franco Smith is excited to have Tuipulotu back in the lineup and is looking forward to the support of their traveling fans. He said, “We’re pleased to welcome Sione back into the starting line-up, and his return is testament to the hard work and dedication of both Sione and our medical and S&C teams.”
With both teams aiming for a spot in the quarter-finals, the stage is set for an exciting clash at Twickenham Stoop. Fans can catch all the action live on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and follow the live text updates on the BBC Sport website and app.
