New Indoor Sports Facility with Football Pitch and Cricket Nets Approved for Glass Manufacturing Factory in Mossley
A new and exciting sports facility is set to be built inside a glass manufacturing factory in Mossley, as Tameside Council has given the green light to Poesia Property Holdings’ proposal. The facility will include five cricket lanes and a football pitch for small-sided games, providing a year-round indoor sports option for the public to enjoy.
The Poesia Glass Studio will continue to operate at the front of the site, while the back will be transformed into the R-Kix Performance Centre brand. The warehouse space, which has been underutilized for years, will now be revamped to accommodate the new sports facility, allowing for hourly bookings of the pitches and cricket lanes to generate additional income.
The facility will be open from 9am to 10pm on weekdays and until 8pm on weekends and bank holidays, welcoming individuals, friends, work colleagues, children, sports teams, and clubs from the community. The site will also feature a main reception area and toilet facilities, with 28 out of 38 parking spaces allocated for the sports facility.
According to the planning statement, the change of use for the site will not negatively impact the industrial or employment requirements in Tameside, as there is plenty of available warehouse and commercial space in the area. This new sports facility is not only a great addition for sports enthusiasts in Mossley but also a positive step towards revitalizing an underused space for the benefit of the community.
