Jeff Stelling remains in touch with former Soccer Saturday regulars after final show
Jeff Stelling, the iconic host of Soccer Saturday, may have bid farewell to the show in 2023, but he is still keeping in touch with some fan favorites from his time on the program. Recently, Stelling was joined by former colleague Chris Kamara, along with current and former pundits from the show, for a dinner outing.
The gathering included familiar faces like Alan McInally, Tony Cottee, and Phil Thompson, as well as a surprise guest who is not often seen in front of the camera. However, one notable absence was Rodney Marsh, who Stelling jokingly referred to as his “most difficult” colleague during his time on screen.
Marsh, who was let go by Sky Sports in 2004 after making offensive remarks about the Thai tsunami, was not present at the dinner. Despite his absence, the group enjoyed a great evening reminiscing about their time on Soccer Saturday.
While some of the former pundits have moved on from the show in recent years, the bond they formed during their time together remains strong. Thompson, who left the show in 2020-21, reflected on the camaraderie they shared, describing it as a “way of life” that he misses.
As Stelling and his former colleagues continue to stay connected, fans of Soccer Saturday can’t help but feel nostalgic for the days when they were a staple of their weekend viewing. The dinner gathering served as a reminder of the special bond they formed while entertaining football fans for years on end.
