Excelsior High School Dominates ISSA/TIP Friendly Society Schoolgirls Final

Excelsior High School continued their dominance in local schoolgirls’ football as they secured their eighth straight title with a resounding 9-1 victory over Holmwood Technical in the final of the ISSA/TIP Friendly Society Schoolgirls competition. Led by a stellar performance from Destiny Powell, Excelsior put on a clinic at the Stadium East field yesterday.

The match got off to a flying start for Excelsior, with Powell finding the back of the net in just the second minute. Jada-Lee Bryan added to the lead with a well-timed header, followed by goals from Cassandra Smith and another from Powell before halftime, giving Excelsior a comfortable 4-0 lead.

The second half saw Excelsior continue their offensive onslaught, with Shauntai Pryce and Powell adding to the scoreline. Despite a consolation goal from Holmwood’s Jamara Jones, Excelsior remained relentless, with Andrene Smith and Ricquanna Richards sealing the 9-1 victory.

Head coach Xavier Gilbert expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance, noting their execution of the game plan and early goal-scoring success. However, he expressed disappointment in conceding a late goal, as he aimed for a perfect season.

On the other hand, Holmwood Technical’s head coach Maurice Duncan was disappointed with his team’s performance, citing poor execution and defensive mistakes as key factors in their defeat.
