Nottinghamshire Beauty Business Owner Launches Charity After Son’s Rejection from Football Team
A Nottinghamshire beauty business owner is making headlines for all the right reasons as she launches a charity to support disabled children in sports after her son was turned down from joining a football team due to his disabilities.
Jade Gray, 36, from Sutton-in-Ashfield, is the proud owner of Acut Above the Rest, a successful beauty salon located on Outram Street. Her son, LJ, 13, was born with severe brain damage, leading to complications such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy, speech delay, and ADHD.
After LJ was rejected from a football team because of his disabilities, Jade decided to take matters into her own hands. She shared, “There’s no activities he can go to because of his condition so I took him to a football team that was supposedly for all abilities. He absolutely loved it but then the coach said they can’t cater for him because of his disabilities.”
Determined to make a change, Jade is launching LJ’s Sports Community, a charity that will provide disabled children with the opportunity to participate in various sports like football and boxing. The project has already gained support from parents of other children with disabilities and is set to open in the coming weeks.
Jade’s journey to success has been nothing short of remarkable. Starting with buying her salon for just £250 in 2015, she has since won multiple awards recognizing her hard work and dedication. Despite facing challenges, including her son’s disabilities and her own mental health struggles, Jade has persevered and built a booming business with a global clientele.
Through her charity and business achievements, Jade hopes to inspire other women to pursue their dreams and show that success is possible in any circumstances. Her story is a testament to the power of determination, resilience, and the importance of supporting those in need.
