AIFF closes investigation into “verbal” harassment complaint by woman employee
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has closed the investigation into a “verbal” complaint of “harassment” made by a woman employee against a male colleague. The decision came after both parties involved expressed a lack of willingness to pursue the matter further.
Last week, a woman employee at the AIFF headquarters lodged a “verbal” complaint of “harassment” against a male colleague, although she did not formally press charges. The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the AIFF, responsible for investigating the alleged harassment case, stated that it is unable to proceed with the investigation due to the lack of cooperation from both parties.
The AIFF’s statement mentioned that the investigation was concluded as withdrawn as any further information regarding the alleged incident was denied by the concerned individuals. The ICC had convened a meeting to address the matter, during which the woman requested additional time before deciding to proceed further with her complaint.
In January, the AIFF had constituted the ICC under the provision of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013. The organization is committed to creating a safe and respectful work environment for all its employees.
The AIFF’s decision to close the investigation highlights the importance of addressing harassment complaints promptly and effectively. It also emphasizes the need for open communication and cooperation from all parties involved in such cases.
