Welsh Cycling Launches Festiva Series to Get More People Riding Bikes
Welsh Cycling has unveiled an exciting new initiative aimed at getting more people in Wales out riding bikes. The Festiva Series, a groundbreaking project, is set to inspire cyclists of all ages and abilities through a series of biking festivals across the country.
With 35 events planned for 2024, the Festiva Series will provide 5,000 opportunities for both the young and the old to get involved in cycling. These festivals will not only promote the sport but also celebrate the beauty of Welsh landscapes and foster a sense of community spirit.
From women and girls focused activities to adrenaline-pumping ‘Pump & Jam’ series in Mid-Wales, the Festiva Series promises a wide range of thrilling experiences including jumps, tricks, balance challenges, races, and games. There will also be events centered around the Paris Olympic Games to keep participants engaged and excited.
Robbie George, director of development & participation at Welsh Cycling, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “The Festiva Series is more than just a set of events; it’s a movement towards making cycling an integral part of Welsh culture. Our goal is to see more Welsh people cycling more often, enjoying the myriad benefits it brings to individuals and communities alike.”
In addition to promoting cycling, the Festiva Series also places a strong emphasis on sustainability. Eco-friendly practices such as trail cleanups, waste reduction measures, and promoting public transportation will be implemented to minimize the environmental impact of the events.
