Tour of Britain Women 2024: Route Revealed and Return to Wales
The Women’s Tour of Britain is set to make a triumphant return to Wales in 2024, much to the delight of British cycling fans. The race, now known as the Tour of Britain Women, will kick off on June 6th with the first two stages taking place in Wales.
British cycling star Lizzie Deignan expressed her gratitude for the return of the race, stating, “I’m really grateful to the people who have made it happen against the odds.” The 2023 edition of the Women’s Tour was cancelled due to a lack of funding, making this year’s return even more special.
The race will feature four stages, with the first stage starting in Welshpool and ending in Llandudno. The following stages will take riders through Wrexham, Warrington, and finally conclude in Greater Manchester on June 9th.
Deignan emphasized the importance of the race for both riders and fans, saying, “People in the UK are brilliant sports fans and there’s this sense of excitement and thrill at being able to be part of a spectacle like a bike race.” The challenging terrain and competitive routes are sure to provide an exciting and thrilling experience for both riders and spectators.
