Promoting the Use of Catalan Language in Girona’s Cycling Sector
The Girona city council is taking steps to promote the use of the Catalan language in the cycling sector, where English is predominantly spoken by the international visitors. The Economic Promotion Area and the Catalan Language council have been collaborating with cycling-tourism operators to create synergies and preserve the use of Catalan in businesses.
With bike tourism becoming a significant economic asset in Girona, the council aims to strengthen the presence of Catalan in this area. Vice-mayor Gemma Geis and councilor Núria Riquelme will meet with various cycling establishments to invite them to a new meeting space dedicated to promoting the Catalan language. Participants will include restaurants, hotels, specialized agencies, tourist homes, and shops, all working together to raise awareness of Catalan among visitors.
