Geraint Thomas ready to lead Ineos Grenadiers at Giro d’Italia
Geraint Thomas is gearing up for a strong performance at the upcoming Giro d’Italia as he leads the Ineos Grenadiers team in the prestigious race. The former Tour de France winner is aiming to conquer both Grand Tours in 2024, after finishing as the runner-up in Italy last year.
With a solid lineup that includes top 10 Giro finishers Thymen Arensman and Tobias Foss, Thomas is confident in the team’s abilities. “We have a strong line-up and there is a good bond with this group,” he said. “We have spent a lot of time together at training camp – we know what we need to do and are all feeling super-motivated to get the job done and deliver.”
Thomas, who will be competing in his sixth Giro, is determined to put past disappointments behind him. After losing out on the Maglia Rosa in agonizing fashion last year, he is focused on achieving success this time around.
The Welsh rider faces tough competition from the likes of Tadej Pogacar, who is considered the pre-race favorite. However, Thomas is ready to be aggressive and seize every opportunity to gain an advantage in the race.
With a busy summer ahead, including plans to compete in the Tour de France after the Giro, Thomas is pleased with his current form. “My only focus now is the Giro and arriving there in my best shape possible,” he stated.
Cycling fans can look forward to an exciting battle at the Giro d’Italia, with Thomas and his Ineos Grenadiers team poised to make their mark on the prestigious race.
