Team USA Shines on Day One of Pan American Track Cycling Championships
Team USA had a strong showing on day one of the Pan American Track Cycling Championships, bringing home bronze medals in the Men’s and Women’s Team Sprint events, as well as a gold medal in the Women’s Scratch Race. The competition took place at the VELO Sports Center in Carson, Calif., marking the first time the event has been hosted in the USA.
In the morning sessions, Team USA dominated the qualifying rounds for both the Men’s and Women’s Team Pursuit events, securing the top spots heading into day two. The Women’s Team Pursuit team consisted of Olivia Cummins, Emily Ehrlich, Colleen Gulick, and Bethany Ingram, while the Men’s team included David Domonoske, Anders Johnson, Grant Koontz, and Brendan Rhim.
The evening saw intense battles in the Team Sprint finals, with Team USA earning bronze in both the Men’s and Women’s events. The Women’s team of Keely Ainslie, Kayla Hankins, and Mandy Marquardt put on a strong performance to secure the bronze medal. In the Men’s event, Evan Boone, Joshua Hartman, and Dalton Walters fought hard to claim the bronze for Team USA.
The night concluded with the Women’s and Men’s Scratch Race finals, where Jennifer Valente and Fernando Gabriel Nava Romo of Team USA both took home gold medals in their respective events.
