Fin Feather Fur Outfitters Acquires Ashland Bike Company: Editor’s Note
Fin Feather Fur Outfitters, a well-known outdoor sports retailer, has made a big move in the cycling world with its recent acquisition of Ashland Bike Company. This acquisition not only expands Fin Feather Fur’s offerings to include cycling gear but also allows the bike shop to reach a broader customer base.
Established in 1985, Fin Feather Fur has grown to over 300 employees across multiple retail sites, an online store, and a distribution center. With the addition of Ashland Bike Company, the retailer aims to create synergies that will benefit both businesses. The bike shop, founded by Tony Bunt and his wife Michelle in 2017, will retain its current location and name.
Ashland Bike Company offers a wide range of bicycle brands, including Trek, Cannondale, Reid, Batch, Giant, and Intense, catering to road, mountain, hybrid, BMX, and e-bike enthusiasts. The shop also provides cycling apparel, gear, and full-service repairs. Bunt expressed excitement about the transition, noting an increase in the brands available at the shop.
Despite ending its relationship with Specialized in 2023, Ashland Bike Company remains committed to offering quality products at a lower price point. The shop’s experienced staff is dedicated to providing exceptional service and repair options for cyclists of all levels.
As part of the acquisition, Bunt will continue to manage the bike shop, ensuring continuity in operations and customer service. Additionally, the shop’s employees will have the opportunity to participate in Fin Feather Fur’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan, a retirement benefit program.
Overall, the acquisition of Ashland Bike Company by Fin Feather Fur Outfitters signifies a new chapter for both businesses, with a shared commitment to providing top-notch products and services to outdoor sports enthusiasts.
