“Antalya’s ‘My Village is Riding a Bicycle’ Event Promotes Cycling and Community Engagement”

The city of Antalya recently witnessed a heartwarming event that brought together cycling enthusiasts of all ages. In collaboration with the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and the Antalya City Council, the “My Village is Riding a Bicycle” event took place in Çakirler, Konyaaltı district, attracting a large number of participants.

The main objective of the event was to promote sports participation among the residents of Antalya, reduce city traffic, and minimize the environmental impact of automobiles. The Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, known for its commitment to promoting sports activities, extended its efforts to encourage citizens in rural areas to engage in sports.

Participants embarked on an 11-kilometer cycling tour, starting from the Cakirlar Covered Marketplace in Konyaalti district and concluding their ride in front of Gökçam Primary School. The event garnered support from 10 neighborhood headmen in the region, who also facilitated the distribution of bicycles as gifts to 10 deserving students selected from their respective neighborhoods.

Notably, visually impaired citizens also took part in the cycling event, showcasing the inclusive nature of the initiative. Nurettin Tonguç, Head of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Services Department, expressed his satisfaction with the event, emphasizing the joy of being surrounded by fellow cycling enthusiasts in a natural setting.

Participant Fevzi Uysal praised the event, highlighting the enjoyable experience and expressing gratitude to the Metropolitan Municipality and all those involved in making the event a success. The “My Village is Riding a Bicycle” event not only promoted physical activity but also fostered a sense of community spirit and environmental consciousness among the participants.
