Celebrate Cycling Culture with Mai à vélo in Paris and the Ile-de-France Region
The month of May is the perfect time to dust off your bicycle and hit the streets of Paris and the Ile-de-France region for some cycling fun. From May 1 to 31, 2024, Mai à vélo will be celebrating a month of national festivities dedicated to cycling culture, with a variety of educational and popular cycling events.
Since 2021, Mai à vélo has been promoting cycling throughout France during the month of May, with the goal of encouraging more people to embrace cycling as a mode of transportation. This national celebration is supported by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Ministry of Sport, and offers free educational cycling events for people of all ages, especially in Paris and the Ile-de-France region.
Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist looking to explore new routes or a beginner looking to enjoy a leisurely ride with family and friends, Mai à vélo has something for everyone. Last year, the event attracted over 50,000 participants who collectively covered 12 million kilometers! The program includes cycling safety workshops, races, rides, repair workshops, film screenings, and bike fairs.
Some of the exciting events taking place in the Paris region include the Vélotour 2024 in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Festi Cocyclette at Hôtel de Ville in Paris, and the Giro des Clochers in Houdan. There are also bike repair workshops, discovery hikes, and cycling festivals happening throughout the month.
