Virat Kohli surpasses Shikhar Dhawan to become second Indian player with most half-centuries in IPL run-chases

In a thrilling match against the Gujarat Titans, Virat Kohli once again showcased his brilliance as he surpassed Shikhar Dhawan to become the second Indian player with the most half-centuries in run-chases in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Kohli’s exceptional unbeaten innings of 70 runs off 44 balls not only helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru secure a crucial victory but also solidified his position as one of the best chasers in the game. With this innings, Kohli now has 24 fifty-plus scores while chasing targets in the IPL, just one behind David Warner’s record of 35.

The partnership between Kohli and Will Jacks was also historic, as their 133-run stand became the highest partnership scored against the Gujarat Titans in IPL history. This remarkable feat further cements Kohli’s legacy as one of the greatest batsmen in the tournament’s history.

Moreover, Kohli’s achievement of crossing the 500-run mark in an IPL season for the seventh time puts him on par with Warner, highlighting his consistency and ability to perform at the highest level year after year.

Despite the win, RCB still find themselves at the bottom of the IPL 2024 standings with six points, while the Gujarat Titans sit in seventh place with 8 points. With Kohli in top form, RCB will be looking to climb up the table and make a strong push for the playoffs in the remaining matches of the season.
