PCB to Appoint Separate Foreign Coaches for Red Ball and White Ball Formats: Jason Gillispie and Gary Kirsten Prime Contenders

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to revolutionize its coaching setup by appointing separate foreign coaches for the red ball and white ball formats. Former Australian pacer Jason Gillispie and ex-South African batter Gary Kirsten are the frontrunners for the coveted coaching positions, according to sources close to the PCB.

The PCB has officially announced the vacancies for the red ball and white ball coaching roles, inviting interested candidates to apply by April 15. The ideal candidates must possess a minimum of five years of coaching experience at various levels, along with a minimum of level two coaching credentials. Preference will be given to candidates with higher coaching qualifications.

While the advertisements have been circulated, discussions have already taken place with Kirsten and Gillispie. The PCB is keen on having them apply for the positions, with plans to appoint them on a long-term basis. Kirsten, known for his coaching stint with the Indian team, is being considered for the white ball formats, while Gillispie is likely to lead the red ball side.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is ensuring a transparent and systematic approach in the selection process, keeping the Board of Governors informed about all developments. This move signifies a shift from past practices, where coaching appointments were made without proper advertisements. Naqvi’s commitment to establishing a structured framework for coaching appointments aims to bring stability and continuity to the coaching setup.

With the PCB aiming for a fresh approach in coaching appointments, the cricketing fraternity eagerly awaits the final decisions on who will helm the red ball and white ball teams in the upcoming seasons.
