Indian Umpires and Match Referee Set to Officiate at T20 World Cup in the Americas
Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that Indian umpires Nitin Menon and Jayaraman Madanagopal, along with ICC match referee Javagal Srinath, will be representing India at the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Americas next month.
The ICC revealed the list of 26 match officials who will be in charge for the first round of the month-long event to be held in the United States of America (USA) and the West Indies, starting June 1. Among the 20 umpires officiating in 55 matches across nine venues are renowned ICC umpires like Richard Illingworth, Kumar Dharmasena, Chris Gaffaney, and Paul Reiffel.
Madanagopal will be joined by other debutants like Sam Nogajski, Allahudien Paleker, Rashid Riaz, and Asif Yaqoob, who will be making their ICC senior men’s competition debut.
In addition to Srinath, the list of six referees includes well-known names like Ranjan Madugalle, Jeff Crowe, and Andrew Pycroft.
ICC General Manager, Wasim Khan, expressed confidence in the selected cohort, stating, “We are proud of the team we have assembled. We are confident that our officials will perform strongly.”
The umpires for the T20 World Cup include Chris Brown, Michael Gough, Richard Kettleborough, Langton Rusere, and Joel Wilson, among others. The match referees appointed for the tournament are David Boon, Richie Richardson, and Javagal Srinath.
