Pakistan All-Rounder Bismah Maroof Announces Retirement from International Cricket
Pakistan all-rounder Bismah Maroof has bid farewell to international cricket, announcing her retirement from all forms of the game with immediate effect. The 33-year-old cricketer made her international debut in 2006 and went on to represent Pakistan in a total of 276 matches, accumulating 6,262 runs and taking 80 wickets.
Maroof’s illustrious career saw her excel in both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). In 136 ODIs, she scored 3,369 runs at an average of 29.55, with 21 half-centuries and 44 wickets to her name. In 140 T20Is, she amassed 2,893 runs at an average of 27.55, with 12 fifties and 36 wickets.
As captain of the Pakistan women’s cricket team, Maroof led her side in 96 matches, including the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020 and 2023, as well as the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2022. Her leadership and contributions on the field have left a lasting impact on the sport.
