Roy Jones Jr warns Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk to up their game for upcoming fight
Tyson Fury ‘didn’t look the way he should have’ during his last fight against Francis Ngannou, according to boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. The 55-year-old has warned both Fury and Oleksandr Usyk that they need to up their game if they want to come out on top in their upcoming showdown.
Fury’s performance against Ngannou in October was lackluster, with the British boxer being floored in round three before ultimately winning via split decision. Since then, Fury has faced criticism for his performance and has been urged to take his upcoming fight with Usyk more seriously.
Jones Jr believes that Fury will be more focused for his bout with Usyk and has warned the Ukrainian fighter that he needs to bring more explosive punches to the ring if he wants to defeat Fury in Saudi Arabia.
“Usyk is a great tactician but he’s not all that explosive,” Jones Jr said. “If he can’t find those explosives before that fight takes place, he will not beat Tyson Fury.”
Fury, who has slimmed down since his last fight, knows he needs to do better against Usyk, who is undefeated in all 21 of his career fights. The Gypsy King suffered a serious eye injury earlier this year, causing the fight with Usyk to be postponed.
Cutman Jorge Capetillo has expressed confidence in Fury’s recovery, stating that the boxer is in good spirits and feeling positive ahead of the fight. Capetillo believes that with the right treatment and preparation, Fury will be ready to face Usyk on May 18 and emerge as the undisputed champion of the world.
The highly anticipated showdown between Fury and Usyk promises to be a thrilling battle, with both fighters looking to prove themselves in the ring. Boxing fans can expect an intense and action-packed fight as these two heavyweight contenders go head-to-head for supremacy.
