Tasmanian Boxer Confident of Undefeated Record Despite Last Minute Opponent Change
Local boxer Sab Wells is gearing up for a big fight this weekend, despite a last-minute change in opponent. Wells, who is undefeated in his professional boxing career, will be facing off against Zac Cotten in a six-round bout at the first professional boxing card in Tasmania’s north in years.
Wells, who was originally scheduled to fight in Melbourne four weeks ago but had his opponent pull out at the last minute, has been training hard for this upcoming match. “This is week 15 of training camp for me,” Wells said. “I’m very excited to get it on and I’m feeling very fit. I’m 2-0 as a pro boxer and I’m looking for my first KO victory.”
A win for Wells could potentially see him enter the top 10 rankings and put him in contention for multiple titles later in the year. The event, which will feature six professional bouts and 15 amateur contests, has been organized by Big Time Boxing, Tazzy Az, and Colla-Blizzard Boxing.
Fellow local Nathan Griffith will also be stepping into the ring for his second professional bout against Jeremy Green in a four-round battle. Despite the change in opponent, Griffith remains focused and determined. “The challenge is on yourself in boxing and there is nowhere to hide so if you don’t put in the work you will get found out,” Griffith said.
With doors opening at 4pm on Saturday and the professional bouts kicking off at 6.30pm, boxing fans are in for an exciting night of action. Despite the last-minute changes, both Wells and Griffith are confident in their abilities and are ready to put on a show for their hometown crowd.
