India’s Boxing Squad Announced for ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championship 2024

India’s boxing squad is all set to make a mark at the upcoming ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championship 2024 in Astana, Kazakhstan. Led by Olympic quota winner Preeti Dahiya, the team comprises a mix of experienced and young talent ready to showcase their skills on the international stage.

The Boxing Federation of India has selected a total of 50 boxers, including reigning youth world champions and senior national champions, to represent the country at the prestigious tournament. The squad includes names like Devika Ghorpade, Vishvanath Suresh, Prachi, Akash Gorkha, and Jugnoo, who have all earned their spots through competitive trials conducted by the BFI.

The tournament will feature both U-22 and Youth categories, with 25 Indian boxers competing in each section across various weight categories. The event is expected to draw over 400 boxers from more than 24 countries, making it a highly competitive and prestigious platform for the young athletes to gain valuable international exposure.

Hemanta Kumar Kalita, Secretary General of the Boxing Federation of India, expressed confidence in the team’s abilities and wished them success in the tournament. With a strong lineup of talented boxers, including former youth world champion Alfiya Pathan, India is poised to make a strong impression at the championship.

The youth squad, led by junior world champions Nisha and Akansha, and the men’s section featuring silver medallists Jatin, Sahil, and Hemant Sangwan, is geared up to compete against the best in Asia. The stage is set for an exciting display of boxing prowess as the Indian contingent aims to bring home medals and make the nation proud.
