Cricklewood Boxing Club Receives £100,000 Windfall for New Centre at Dollis Hill

Cricklewood Boxing Club in Dollis Hill has hit the jackpot with a generous £100,000 windfall from Brent Council and Powerday waste management company. This funding will be used to enhance the club’s facilities, including new gym equipment, additional coaching sessions, and separate changing areas for both male and female members.

Head of coaching, Robin Buick, expressed his excitement about the opportunities this funding will provide for the club. “We can now offer more voluntary programs in our own premises without any restrictions, allowing us to reach even more young people in the community,” Buick said.

The club, which was established a decade ago with the aim of engaging at-risk youth and steering them away from crime, has been operating in a cramped space near Dollis Hill bus station. With the new funding, the club now has its own dedicated premises on Edgware Road, allowing for expanded activities and outreach to youngsters in Brent and Barnet.

The club’s mission is clear – to make a positive impact on the community without any discrimination based on race, gender, or beliefs. By providing accessible and affordable health and fitness services, the club hopes to empower young people and keep them away from negative influences.

With the additional resources, Cricklewood Boxing Club plans to increase its capacity, offer more activities, and collaborate with schools and colleges on intervention programs to prevent youth involvement in crime. Brent’s deputy mayor, Tariq Dar, emphasized the importance of providing safe spaces like the boxing club for young people to develop skills and character.

The club’s partnership with Powerday’s charity foundation highlights the need for expanded facilities to support their voluntary work. With the new funding, the club’s team of dedicated coaches can now provide a top-notch gym experience for young athletes to thrive in the sport.
