McAusland Boxing Gym Welcomes Khangelani Jack as New Coach
McAusland Boxing Gym in Kibler Park has recently made a significant addition to its coaching staff with the appointment of Khangelani Jack, a seasoned coach with an impressive track record in amateur national coaching. Jack, who was awarded Trainer of the Year in 2023, brings a wealth of experience and a strong dedication to the sport of boxing.
Hailing from the Eastern Cape, particularly Mdantsane, a region known for its rich boxing history, Jack’s objective at McAusland Boxing Gym is to uphold the gym’s reputation as a vital support system for professional fighters from various provinces. His goal is to create a family-like atmosphere within the team and work together to help each boxer achieve their dreams.
Despite personal responsibilities, Jack’s commitment to boxing remains unwavering, thanks to the support of his family. He made a tough decision to leave his loved ones behind in pursuit of better opportunities in Gauteng, emphasizing his role as the breadwinner for his family.
McAusland Boxing Gym’s resident coach, Arafaat Kock, brings a wealth of sporting experience to the table, including a tenure with the Blue Bulls and notable contributions to club rugby. With a degree in exercise science and sports conditioning, Kock’s vision for the gym aligns with its goal of reclaiming respect in South African boxing and providing a platform for boxers to reach their full potential.
The gym is home to a roster of top boxing talents, including Simangele Hadebe, Donjuan van Heerden, Monica Mkandla, Bonita van Jaarsveld, Bernice Ferreira, Sihle Shange, Lybon Ntashali, and Bouksan Bukasa. These champions and rising stars showcase the gym’s commitment to excellence in boxing.
With Jack’s dedication to champion development, Kock’s expertise in sports conditioning, and a shared sense of community values, McAusland Boxing Gym is poised to continue its legacy as a hub for world-class boxers.
