Accra, April 30 – The European Union (EU) Delegation to Ghana, in collaboration with the Ghana Boxing Federation, is set to host an electrifying Charity Exhibition Boxing Bout at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra on May 4, 2024. This event is part of the EU Month 2024 celebrations, with a focus on youth and skills development.
The highlight of the Charity Exhibition will be the return of the legendary Azumah Nelson to the ring after nearly two decades since his last exhibition fight. The event aims to empower youth through sports and promote the values of discipline, dedication, and mutual respect that boxing embodies.
Speaking at the media launch, Mr. Razaaly emphasized the importance of boxing as a sport that transcends barriers and brings people together. The theme of the event, “Diplo-Rumble,” symbolizes the strong partnership between the EU and Ghana in promoting sports diplomacy and supporting talented youth in the country.
Tickets for the event are priced at GH₵5, with all proceeds going towards acquiring equipment for amateur boxers in Bukom. The event is open to the public and is expected to attract boxing enthusiasts, diplomatic representatives, government officials, and young boxers.
In addition to the exhibition bout featuring Azumah Nelson, there will be a lineup of exciting matches showcasing the skills and talent of up-and-coming boxers in various weight divisions.
