Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia: Super Lightweight Showdown Set for April 20

In a highly anticipated showdown, two young and gifted fighters will go head-to-head for super lightweight bragging rights on April 20. Devin Haney will defend his WBC super lightweight title against Ryan Garcia inside Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

Haney, who started boxing at the age of seven, turned pro in 2015 and has since become a recognized name in the sport. The 25-year-old recently became the undisputed lightweight champion after defeating George Kambosos Jr. in 2022. Haney then moved up to super lightweight and easily defeated Regis Prograis in December to win the light heavyweight title.

“I had been at 135 for a long time. At 140, it just feels so different,” Haney said of his move to super lightweight. “Whichever version of Ryan shows up on April 20, I will be ready for him. Ryan Garcia is just another opponent to me. I am in competition with greatness.”

Garcia, on the other hand, is a former interim lightweight champion with 20 wins via knockout. Despite controversy surrounding his behavior leading up to fights, Garcia remains confident in his abilities.

“I know I am training hard. I am feeling great, looking good in the gym,” Garcia said. “I don’t regret anything I said or did in the lead-up to this fight. I’m just ready to kick a– on April 20.”

The main card for the fight is set to start at 8 p.m. ET, with Haney and Garcia expected to make their way to the ring around 11 p.m. ET. The fight will be broadcast on the DAZN platform, with PPV prices set at $69.99 in the US, £19.99 in the UK, and $34.95 AUD in Australia.
