Wisconsin Adds Sweet-Shooting Forward Xavier Amos Through Transfer Portal
MADISON – The Wisconsin Badgers are making moves to revamp their roster for the upcoming season, with the latest addition being Xavier Amos, a talented forward transferring from Northern Illinois.
Amos, a 6-foot-8 forward known for his sweet shooting stroke, announced his decision to join the Badgers on Monday. His commitment comes on the heels of Central Arkansas guard Camren Hunter also choosing to play for Wisconsin.
With the departure of key players like Tyler Wahl, who was known for his defensive prowess but struggled with three-point shooting, Amos brings a much-needed scoring punch from the perimeter. In his sophomore season at Northern Illinois, he started 25 games and averaged 13.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, showcasing his ability to score both inside and outside.
“We are really excited to welcome Xavier Amos to the Badger family,” said Wisconsin coach Greg Gard. “His size and skillset are very versatile, and we are excited about what he can do both on the offensive end and the defensive end.”
Amos, a standout player at Chicago’s Whitney Young High School, has already proven himself against tough competition outside the Mid-American Conference. In games against teams like Marquette, Indiana State, and Northwestern, he displayed his scoring ability and versatility on the court.
With the addition of Amos and the potential signing of guard John Tonje, the Badgers are looking to build a strong roster for the upcoming season. Gard believes that Amos will fit right in with the team’s culture and vision, bringing a new dimension to the squad.
Wisconsin fans can look forward to seeing Amos in action next season as he aims to make a significant impact on the court for the Badgers.
