Michigan Basketball Roster Update: Offseason Madness Continues
The Michigan basketball program is undergoing a major transformation this offseason under new head coach Dusty May. With a flurry of departures, commitments, de-commitments, and returns, the Wolverines’ roster has been in constant flux.
Among the players returning from last season are Nimari Burnett and Will Tschetter. Burnett, who withdrew from NBA Draft consideration, was a key contributor last season, averaging 9.6 points per game. Tschetter, a sharpshooter off the bench, also decided to come back for another season.
May wasted no time in bringing in top transfers to bolster the roster. Players like Roddy Gayle, Tre Donaldson, and Rubin Jones are expected to make an immediate impact. Vlad Goldin, who excelled under May at Florida Atlantic, joins the team as a potent center alongside Yale transfer Danny Wolf.
In addition to transfers, May also secured commitments from high school standouts like Durral Brooks, Justin Pippen, and Lorenzo Cason. These additions add depth and talent to the roster for the upcoming season.
However, the offseason also saw some players leave the program, including leading scorer Dug McDaniel and solid contributor Tarris Reed Jr. Despite the departures, May has been proactive in reshaping the roster to compete in the Big Ten.
With the roster taking shape, Michigan basketball is poised for a fresh start under Dusty May. While there are still some uncertainties, the team is building towards a competitive season in 2024-25. Stay tuned for more updates as the Wolverines prepare for the upcoming campaign.
