New WVU Basketball Recruit Javon Small Brings Talent and Experience

West Virginia University’s men’s basketball team made a significant addition to their roster this week with the signing of Javon Small, a skilled point guard from Oklahoma State. Small, who averaged 15.9 points per game last season, brings both scoring and defensive prowess to the Mountaineers.

Small’s impact on the court was evident in a game against West Virginia last season, where he led Oklahoma State to a 70-66 victory with 15 points, 7 assists, and an impressive 12 rebounds. His ability to contribute on both ends of the floor makes him a valuable asset to the team.

Head coach Darian DeVries, who took over the program after a challenging season for the Mountaineers, sees Small as a key piece in rebuilding the team. With only one returning player from last season, DeVries has been working diligently to reshape the roster and improve the team’s performance.

Small’s basketball background in Indiana, a state known for producing top-tier talent, has prepared him well for the collegiate level. His coach at Oklahoma State, Mike Boynton, praised Small’s leadership qualities and basketball IQ, highlighting his ability to make smart decisions on the court.

As West Virginia looks to bounce back from a tough season defensively, Small’s presence as a solid defender and playmaker will be crucial. With his experience and skills, Small has the potential to make a significant impact on the team’s performance and contribute to their success in the upcoming season.

Mountaineer fans can look forward to seeing Small in action and witnessing the positive influence he brings to the team both on and off the court. With his dedication to the game and desire to lead his teammates to success, Javon Small is poised to make a difference for West Virginia University’s basketball program.
