Virginia Cavaliers Land Florida State Transfer Jalen Warley as First Commitment of Offseason

In a much-needed boost for the Virginia Cavaliers, Florida State transfer guard Jalen Warley has committed to the program for the upcoming season. The 6’7″ junior made his decision official after visiting the campus and meeting with the coaching staff.

Warley, a former top-50 recruit, brings a versatile skill set to the Cavaliers. In his junior season at Florida State, he averaged 7.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. Known for his defensive prowess and ability to guard multiple positions, Warley will be a valuable asset on both ends of the floor for Virginia.

Despite a dip in his three-point shooting percentage this past season, the Cavaliers are hopeful that Warley can rediscover his form from the previous year when he shot over 30% from beyond the arc. With his passing ability and solid assist-to-turnover ratio, Warley could potentially take on the point guard role for Virginia, providing much-needed depth at the position.

Warley’s commitment fills one of the remaining spots on the Cavaliers’ roster for the 2024-2025 season. Head coach Tony Bennett and his staff are actively looking to add more talent, with visits from other transfer prospects scheduled in the coming days.

One player to keep an eye on is four-star point guard Trent Perry, who recently visited the campus. Despite Warley’s addition, Virginia is still pursuing Perry, as the guard has multiple years of eligibility remaining.

With Warley on board, the Cavaliers are shaping up to be a competitive force in the upcoming season. Fans can expect an exciting blend of talent and experience as Virginia looks to make a statement in the ACC and beyond.
