UND Women’s Basketball Adds Canadian Forward Anaiyah Fletcher to 2024-2025 Recruiting Class
GRAND FORKS — The University of North Dakota women’s basketball team continues to strengthen its ties with Canadian talent, as they recently announced the addition of forward Anaiyah Fletcher to their 2024-2025 recruiting class. Fletcher, a 6-foot athletic player from Bond Academy in Toronto, brings a versatile skill set to the Fighting Hawks.
Head coach Mallory Bernhard praised Fletcher’s abilities, highlighting her strong rebounding, scoring, and defensive skills. Fletcher averaged 9.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game in her senior season, showcasing her impact on both ends of the court.
Fletcher’s commitment to UND adds to the team’s growing Canadian contingent, with at least two Canadian players on every roster since 2021-2022. This emphasis on recruiting north of the border has paid off, as Canadian players have become increasingly interested in joining the program.
In addition to Fletcher, UND also announced the signings of Jocelyn Schiller, Skyler Volmer, and Mataeya Mathern, further bolstering their roster for the upcoming season. Mathern and Schiller, both North Dakota natives, bring a sense of local pride to the team, filling a void left by the departure of previous players.
Coach Bernhard expressed her excitement about the incoming recruiting class, noting the team’s focus on bringing in players who are dedicated, hardworking, and proud to represent the university. With the addition of Fletcher and other talented recruits, UND looks poised to build on their recent success and compete at a high level in the upcoming season.
The Fighting Hawks have addressed key needs in their roster with the 2024-2025 recruiting class, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead. With a mix of local talent and international flair, UND women’s basketball is ready to make waves in the college basketball scene.
