Trey McBride chasing his basketball dreams overseas
Trey McBride is living out his dream of playing professional basketball overseas, and he couldn’t be happier. The Moeller High School graduate is currently in his second season with the Bayer Leverkusen Giants in Germany, where he is gearing up for the postseason next week.
For McBride, basketball has always been a passion, a dream he has had since he was a young boy. Now, at 26 years old, he is making that dream a reality as he continues to excel on the court, averaging an impressive 17 points, five assists, and three steals per game.
Playing overseas has not been without its challenges, with long bus rides to road games and physical play on the court. But McBride embraces the hardships, seeing them as part of the journey towards his ultimate goal of playing in the EuroLeague.
Despite the challenges, McBride finds joy in the experience of playing internationally. He has gained a global perspective on life, taking German language classes with his girlfriend and immersing himself in different cultures.
McBride’s love for travel and basketball has inspired him to share his experiences with others, hoping to motivate and inspire young players to pursue their own dreams. He stays connected with his younger brother, Miles McBride, who is making a name for himself in the NBA with the New York Knicks.
As McBride continues to chase his basketball dreams overseas, he remains grateful for the opportunities the sport has provided him. With the support of his family and the lessons instilled by his father, McBride is determined to make the most of his basketball career and inspire others along the way.
