Arkansas Women’s Basketball Transfer Portal Updates: Incoming and Outgoing Transfers
The Arkansas women’s basketball team has been making moves in the transfer portal, with several players coming and going in recent weeks.
One of the most notable incoming transfers is guard Izzy Higginbottom, who hails from Batesville, Arkansas. Higginbottom had an impressive junior season at Arkansas State, averaging 22.2 points per game and leading the team in multiple statistical categories. She will bring scoring and playmaking ability to the Razorbacks’ backcourt.
Another new addition to the team is forward Vera Ojenuwa, a 6-4 forward from Nigeria who played at Barton Community College. Ojenuwa put up solid numbers in her freshman season, averaging a double-double with 13.6 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Her size and versatility will be valuable assets for Arkansas in the frontcourt.
On the other hand, the Razorbacks are losing some key players to the transfer portal. Guard Samara Spencer, the SEC freshman of the year in 2022, is reportedly leaving the program after a standout junior season. Spencer was a scoring and assist threat for Arkansas, and her departure will leave a void in the team’s backcourt.
Additionally, guard/forward Saylor Poffenbarger, guard Taliah Scott, and guard/forward Jersey Wolfenbarger are also entering the transfer portal. Each of these players had significant contributions to the Razorbacks during their time with the team, and their departures will be felt on the court.
As the transfer portal continues to shake up the women’s basketball landscape, Arkansas will need to regroup and adjust to the changes in their roster. The team’s success in the upcoming season will depend on how well they can integrate their new additions and fill the gaps left by their departing players.
