2024 Women’s Basketball Transfer Portal Tracker: Additions and Departures
The JMU Women’s Basketball team is gearing up for the 2024-25 season with some exciting additions and departures from the roster. The transfer portal has been busy, and the Dukes have made some notable moves to strengthen their squad.
One of the key additions to the team is Ro Scott from Marshall. Scott, a guard, led the Thundering Herd in scoring in the 2022-23 season and is known for her offensive prowess. Despite only playing six games in the 2023-24 season, Scott is expected to provide a significant boost to JMU’s scoring capabilities with one year of eligibility remaining.
Another exciting addition is Zakiya Stephenson from Ole Miss. Stephenson, also a guard, was a bench player for the Rebels in her freshman season, but the former top-100 recruit has the potential to make a big impact at JMU. With her skills and experience, Stephenson could potentially become the team’s starting point guard in the upcoming season.
On the departure side, Chloe Sterling, a key point guard for the Dukes in the 2023-24 season, has decided to leave the program. Sterling led the team in assists and showed promise as a rising junior. Her departure is a loss for JMU, as fans had hoped to see her develop into an All-Conference player.
Additionally, Steph Ouderkirk will be transferring to Richmond to finish her collegiate career. Ouderkirk, a forward, was a role player for the Dukes, averaging 3.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in the previous season.
As the transfer portal continues to shape the landscape of college sports, the JMU Women’s Basketball team is making moves to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season. With new additions and departures, the Dukes are poised to make a statement in the 2024-25 campaign.
