TNT Sports Secures Rights to Broadcast WNBA in the UK and Ireland for 2024 Season

Exciting news for basketball fans in the UK and Ireland as TNT Sports, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, has secured the rights to broadcast the WNBA during the upcoming 2024 season. This multi-year media rights deal will allow subscribers to watch at least 16 regular-season games on TNT Sports and discovery+, the WBD over-the-top streaming platform.

During the regular season, TNT Sports will cover weekend WNBA fixtures in primetime UK slots, as well as select games from the playoffs, finals, and the WNBA All-Star Game. This deal follows a similar agreement between TNT Sports and the men’s NBA, solidifying their commitment to showcasing elite basketball talent.

Trojan Paillot, senior vice president for sports rights and acquisitions at WBD Sports Europe, expressed delight in bringing the WNBA to UK and Ireland audiences, stating, “We are delighted to show the elite athletes that star in the WNBA beginning with the 2024 season, strengthening our women’s sport offering in the UK and Ireland.”

Colie Edison, the WNBA’s chief growth officer, also shared her excitement about the collaboration with TNT Sports, saying, “We are thrilled to collaborate with TNT Sports to bring the excitement of the WNBA to fans in the UK and Ireland.”

This announcement comes on the heels of a multi-year global rights extension between the WNBA and Amazon Prime Video, further expanding the reach of women’s basketball. The 2024 WNBA season is set to kick off on May 14, with regular-season action running until September 19.

Basketball fans in the UK and Ireland can look forward to an action-packed season of WNBA games, thanks to TNT Sports’ commitment to showcasing the best of women’s basketball talent. Stay tuned for more updates as the 2024 season approaches.
