North Carolina Basketball Guard RJ Davis Announces Return for Fifth Season
North Carolina basketball fans have reason to celebrate as star guard RJ Davis announced his decision to return for a fifth season with the Tar Heels. The ACC Player of the Year and first-team All-American had a stellar senior season, leading the conference in scoring with 21.2 points per game and shooting nearly 40% from beyond the arc.
Davis also made history by becoming the first Tar Heel to win the prestigious Jerry West Award, given to the top shooting guard in the country. His record-breaking performance of 42 points and seven made 3-pointers against Miami solidified his place in UNC basketball lore.
With Davis back in the lineup, North Carolina is poised to be a contender for the 2025 national championship. The Tar Heels boast a talented roster with the return of Seth Trimble, the addition of freshman Ian Jackson, and the expected comeback of Elliot Cadeau. The team also added Belmont transfer Cade Tyson to bolster their wing depth.
However, UNC is still looking to fill the void left by departing players Armando Bacot and Harrison Ingram in the post. Transfer targets Cliff Omoruyi from Rutgers and Adou Thiero from Kentucky could provide the frontcourt help the Tar Heels need to compete at the highest level.
With Davis leading the charge, North Carolina fans can look forward to an exciting 2024-25 season filled with high expectations and championship aspirations. Stay tuned for more updates on the Tar Heels’ roster as they gear up for another run at college basketball glory.
