News-Gazette’s 47th All-State Girls’ Basketball Team: Top Players and Comments
The News-Gazette has released its 47th All-State girls’ basketball team, highlighting the top players from across the state. Among the standout athletes recognized are Lorena Awou from East Moline United, Shelby Bowman from Biggsville West Central, and Kloe Froebe from Lincoln.
Awou, a 6-5 senior forward/center, is being compared to Elissa Cunane and is set to play for North Carolina State after an impressive season averaging 18.7 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. Bowman, a senior guard, put up impressive numbers with 31.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, four steals, and 3.5 assists per game, earning her a spot at Western Illinois.
Froebe, a senior guard and the repeat N-G All-State Player of the Year, led her team to an unbeaten run to the Class 3A title with averages of 28.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.1 steals, and 4.9 assists per game.
