Sierra Canyon’s Mackenly Randolph Named Daily News All-Area Girls Basketball Player of the Year

Sierra Canyon’s Mackenly Randolph has been named the Daily News all-area girls basketball player of the year for the 2023-24 season. The senior standout has left an indelible mark on the court, setting records and leading her team to success.

Randolph, who is committed to Louisville, has had an impressive high school career, setting Sierra Canyon records in career points and rebounds. She averaged 16.4 points, 11.7 rebounds, and four assists per game in her senior year, playing a pivotal role in the Trailblazers’ undefeated Mission League title run.

Despite the pressures of the recruiting process and the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic during her freshman year, Randolph has always maintained a positive attitude, always smiling on and off the court. She credits Sierra Canyon for helping her mature and grow as a player and a person.

As she looks ahead to her college basketball career, Randolph is excited to be entering the sport at a time when women’s basketball is thriving. With the growing interest in the game and the opportunities for athletes through NIL, Randolph is eager to make her mark at the next level.

In addition to Randolph, other standout players recognized in the Daily News all-area girls basketball team include freshman of the year Izzy Escribano from Canyon, breakout player of the year Jerzy Robinson from Sierra Canyon, and coach of the year Melissa Hearlihy from Harvard-Westlake.

Congratulations to all the talented athletes who have been recognized for their hard work and dedication on the court. The future of girls basketball in the area looks bright with these exceptional players leading the way.
