UVA Women’s Basketball Program Adds Three Transfer Commitments to Reinforce Front Court
The University of Virginia women’s basketball program continues to make waves in the transfer portal, securing three key commitments to bolster their front court for the upcoming season. The latest addition comes in the form of North Carolina transfer forward RyLee Grays, a 6’3″ standout from Pearland, Texas.
Grays, a highly touted four-star recruit in the class of 2023, brings a wealth of potential to the Cavaliers with three years of eligibility remaining. Despite limited playing time in her freshman season at North Carolina, Grays’ size and versatility as a forward who can handle the ball make her a valuable asset for Coach Mox and the UVA program.
Joining Grays in the front court are 6’7″ center Hawa Doumbouya from Maryland and 6’4″ forward Latasha Lattimore from Miami. Doumbouya, like Grays, has three years of eligibility left, while Lattimore has two years remaining. The trio of transfers, along with incoming freshman Breona Hurd, a 6’2″ forward from Waynesville, MO, will help fill the void left by the departures of key players from last season.
With the additions of Grays, Doumbouya, and Lattimore, Virginia has now filled 11 of its 15 scholarship spots for the 2024-2025 season. The Cavaliers are poised to make a strong push in the ACC with their revamped front court and talented incoming recruits, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead. Stay tuned for more updates as Coach Mox continues to shape his roster for the upcoming campaign.
