UCLA Bruins Reload with Transfer Portal Additions for 2024-25 Season
After a disappointing season that saw the UCLA Bruins miss the NCAA Tournament for the first time under head coach Mick Cronin, the team has made some significant moves in the offseason to bolster their roster. Cronin, who had previously focused on recruiting international prospects, shifted his strategy this year and turned to the transfer portal to bring in proven talent from within the United States.
The Bruins have made a splash in the transfer market, with Ricky O’Donnell of SB Nation ranking them among the top seven teams to benefit from the NCAA transfer portal this offseason. UCLA has added a mix of experienced players, including former Pac-12 All-Defensive USC small forward Kobe Johnson, ex-Louisville guard Skyy Clark, and former Oklahoma State power forward Eric Dailey Jr.
O’Donnell is particularly impressed with Johnson’s athleticism and defensive skills, as well as Clark’s ballhandling ability. He also notes the addition of big man Dailey and the efficient play of forward William Kyle III. In addition to the new recruits, O’Donnell highlights the importance of retaining key players like Dylan Andrews, Mack, Lazar Stefanovic, and Aday Mara.
With these new additions and returning players, the Bruins are looking to bounce back from last season’s disappointment and make a strong push for the NCAA Tournament. Fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming season to see how the team gels and performs on the court. Stay tuned for more updates on UCLA basketball as they prepare for the upcoming season.
