Oklahoma State Adds UCF Transfer Marchelus Avery to Roster
Oklahoma State has added another talented player to its roster, as UCF transfer Marchelus Avery announced his commitment to the Cowboys on Sunday. The addition of Avery comes as new head coach Steve Lutz continues to shape his first team in Stillwater.
Avery, who spent one season at UCF, brings valuable experience to OSU after helping the Knights to a 17-16 record and a trip to the NIT in their first Big 12 season. The 6-foot-6 forward started two of his 31 games last season, averaging 7.6 points and four rebounds in just under 18 minutes per game.
Known for his scoring ability, Avery had several standout performances last season, including a 22-point outing against South Dakota State in mid-November. With 11 double-digit scoring games, Avery proved to be a reliable offensive threat for UCF.
Prior to his time at UCF, Avery had successful stints at Northwest Florida State College and New Mexico State, where he started nine games across two seasons before the program suspended its season in 2022-23.
As OSU looks to bounce back from a 12-20 season, the addition of Avery provides a boost to the team’s roster. With his Big 12 experience and scoring prowess, Avery is poised to make an immediate impact for the Cowboys.
