USC Coach Lindsay Gottlieb Signs Contract Extension After Historic Season
Lindsay Gottlieb has taken the USC women’s basketball program to new heights, and her success has not gone unnoticed. After leading the Trojans to their first Elite Eight appearance since 1994 and capturing the program’s first conference tournament title in a decade, Gottlieb has signed a contract extension that will keep her at USC through the 2029-30 season.
In just her third season at the helm, Gottlieb has already made a significant impact on the program. Under her guidance, the Trojans posted a 29-6 record, the most wins for the team since the mid-80s. USC earned its first No. 1 NCAA seed in over three decades and saw a substantial increase in home attendance, drawing the largest crowd in Galen Center history.
Gottlieb’s recruiting prowess has been a key factor in USC’s resurgence. She landed JuJu Watkins, the national freshman of the year and the No. 1 recruit in the country, who has quickly become a standout player for the Trojans. Additionally, Gottlieb has assembled a top-ranked recruiting class for the upcoming season, including three McDonald’s All-Americans.
USC athletic director Jennifer Cohen praised Gottlieb for her impact on the program, stating that she has led the team back to national prominence at a time when women’s basketball is more popular than ever. With a strong foundation in place and a talented roster, the future looks bright for USC women’s basketball under Gottlieb’s leadership.
Gottlieb’s success has also translated to the WNBA, with several USC players being selected in recent drafts after a long drought of draft picks. With the program on the rise and a commitment to sustained success, USC fans have plenty to be excited about as they look ahead to the future under Lindsay Gottlieb’s guidance.
