Former Iowa Hawkeye Patrick McCaffery Commits to Butler Basketball

Butler basketball is making moves this offseason with the addition of talented former Iowa Hawkeye, Patrick McCaffery. The 6-9 forward announced his decision to transfer to Butler via social media on Saturday, following in the footsteps of his father, Iowa men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery, and his brother, former Hawkeye guard Connor McCaffery.

During his five seasons at Iowa, McCaffery averaged 8.5 points and three rebounds per game. His best season came in his third year, where he started all 32 games and averaged 10.5 points per game. McCaffery is known for his shooting ability, boasting a career 32% 3-point shooting percentage and shooting 75% from the free throw line.

McCaffery’s versatility will be a valuable asset for the Bulldogs, who are looking to fill multiple roles on their roster this offseason. Depending on how the team’s offseason shakes out, McCaffery could potentially step into a starting role or provide depth in the forward rotation.

With several players entering the transfer portal and others declaring for the NBA draft, Butler has been busy reshaping its roster for the upcoming season. McCaffery’s commitment brings the total number of scholarship players on the roster to six, with more spots still to be filled.

Butler fans can look forward to seeing McCaffery in action as he joins the Bulldogs for the upcoming season. His experience and skill set will undoubtedly make an impact on the team as they look to compete at a high level in the Big East conference.
