Illinois Valley All-Star Game Returns with Exciting Matches in Peru
The Illinois Valley All-Star Game made a triumphant return after a hiatus due to COVID-19, bringing together talented high school basketball players for an exciting showcase of skills and camaraderie.
Putnam County senior Ava Hatton and her sister, Presley, were thrilled to be a part of the event, with Ava jokingly predicting her appearance on the cover page after seeing Presley featured from the 2018 game. The girls game saw Ava and St. Bede’s Ali Bosnich leading the South squad to a 63-47 victory, showcasing their teamwork and talent on the court.
On the boys’ side, Serena senior Carson Baker helped the North squad secure a 98-78 win, displaying impressive skills and sportsmanship throughout the game. Baker also impressed in the 3-point contest, but it was Fieldcrest’s Kaitlin White who emerged victorious in the shootout, showcasing her sharpshooting abilities and competitive spirit.
The event was a special opportunity for players to reunite with old teammates, put rivalries aside, and create lasting memories on the court. Bosnich expressed gratitude for the continuation of the tradition and hoped for future editions of the All-Star Game.
Overall, the Illinois Valley All-Star Game was a resounding success, bringing together top high school basketball talent for a day of competition, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments. The players showcased their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship, leaving a lasting impact on all those in attendance.
