Meet the 2024 All-Area Girls’ Basketball First Team Players
The 2024 All-Area girls’ basketball team has been announced, and the first team features some outstanding players who have showcased their skills on the court throughout the season. Let’s take a closer look at some of the standout athletes who made the cut.
Josie Armstrong, a senior guard from Tri-County, has been a force to be reckoned with on the court. Known for her all-around skills, Armstrong averaged 18.4 points, six rebounds, 4.7 steals, and 2.8 assists per game this season. She was a unanimous All-Lincoln Prairie Conference First-Team selection and will be continuing her basketball career at Lake Land College next season.
Molly Buckles, a senior guard/forward from LeRoy, led her team to their first regional championship since 2016. Buckles averaged 15.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.1 steals per game. She was voted an All-Stater by the coaches and made the Heart of Illinois Conference First Team.
Alexa Jamison, a junior guard from Salt Fork, overcame a torn ACL to have a standout season. Jamison led her team with 14.8 points per game and made the All-Vermilion Valley Conference First Team. She was also recognized as an IBCA All-State Third Team selection.
These talented athletes have worked hard to earn their spots on the All-Area first team and have shown dedication and skill on the basketball court. Congratulations to all the players who made the team, and we look forward to seeing what they accomplish in the future.
