2024 Four-Star Center Somto Cyril Commits to Georgia Bulldogs
In a major recruiting win for the Georgia Bulldogs, 2024 four-star center Somto Cyril has announced his commitment to the program. The 6-10, 240-pound big man out of Overtime Elite is a significant addition to head coach Mike White’s roster ahead of the 2024-2025 college basketball season.
Cyril, who was initially committed to Kentucky, made the decision to join the Bulldogs after John Calipari left the Wildcats to take the head coaching job at Arkansas. Ranked as the 44th-best player overall, ninth-best at his position, and fourth-best player in the state of Georgia in the 2024 class, Cyril brings a strong presence in the paint and impressive defensive skills to the team.
Joining five-star prospect Asa Newell in Georgia’s 2024 recruiting class, Cyril adds depth and talent to the Bulldogs’ frontcourt. With his ability to protect the rim, rebound effectively, and score efficiently around the basket, Cyril is expected to make an immediate impact for Georgia.
Coach White has been successful in bringing in top talent through the transfer portal, as demonstrated by the contributions of players like Russel Tchewa, Noah Thomasson, RJ Melendez, and Jalen Deloach in the previous season. With Cyril and Newell joining an already strong transfer class, Georgia is poised for success in the upcoming season.
Fans of the Bulldogs can look forward to seeing Cyril in action and witnessing the continued growth of the program under Coach White’s leadership. Stay tuned for more exciting updates on Georgia basketball as the team prepares for the 2024-2025 season.
