Cal Basketball Completes Signing Process, Adds Final Two Players to 2024-25 Roster
Cal Basketball Completes Signing Process with Addition of Christian Tucker and Jeff Nwankwo
After a whirlwind three-week period that saw Cal basketball coach Mark Madsen secure commitments from nine players, the Bears have officially completed their 2024-25 roster with the signings of point guard Christian Tucker and junior college All-America forward Jeff Nwankwo.
Tucker, a 6-foot-3 point guard from Texas-San Antonio, brings a year of eligibility to Berkeley. Known for his playmaking abilities, Tucker averaged 5.4 assists and 11.3 points per game in the American Athletic Conference last season. Coach Madsen praised Tucker’s court awareness and vision, highlighting his ability to elevate the team’s offense.
On the other hand, Nwankwo, a 6-6 forward from Cowley College, will have two seasons of eligibility with the Bears. The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Player of the Year averaged 18.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, earning NJCAA All-America honors in the process. Madsen commended Nwankwo’s toughness, shooting, and athleticism, emphasizing his potential impact on both ends of the court.
Tucker and Nwankwo join a talented recruiting class that includes players like Andrej Stojakovic, Mady Sissoko, and Joshua Ola-Joseph. With a total of 12 scholarship players, including returning players and incoming freshman Jeremiah Wilkinson, the Bears are poised for a competitive season ahead.
As the Bears gear up for the 2024-25 campaign, the additions of Tucker and Nwankwo signal a bright future for Cal basketball. Fans can expect an exciting brand of basketball with these two dynamic players on the court.
