South Carolina Gamecocks advance to national title game after dominating North Carolina State

Guard Bree Hall and the South Carolina Gamecocks are on a mission to capture their second national title in three years as they advanced to the championship game with a dominant victory over North Carolina State in the Final Four on Friday.

Led by All-American Kamilla Cardoso’s 22 points and a stellar performance on both ends of the court, the Gamecocks overwhelmed the Wolfpack with a 78-59 win. The team’s suffocating defense held North Carolina State to just 32.3% shooting while outrebounding them 46-32.

After a close first half, the Gamecocks exploded in the third quarter, outscoring their opponents 29-6 to build an insurmountable lead. Despite Cardoso briefly leaving the game due to an ankle injury, she returned to lead her team to victory alongside guard Te-Hina Paopao, who added 10 points.

South Carolina’s relentless effort and determination were evident throughout the game, with forward Ashlyn Watkins contributing eight points and an impressive 20 rebounds. The team’s depth and balanced scoring attack proved too much for the Wolfpack to handle.

With an undefeated record of 37-0, the Gamecocks now await the winner of the matchup between No. 1 Iowa and No. 3 UConn in the national title game on Sunday. Guard Bree Hall and her teammates are poised to make history once again and cement their legacy as one of the top programs in women’s college basketball.

The championship game promises to be a thrilling showdown as South Carolina looks to cap off a remarkable season with another title. Fans can expect an intense battle on the court as the Gamecocks aim to bring home the trophy and solidify their place among the elite teams in the sport.
